For him, the knowledge gained through his mentors and personal coaches is exactly this. Over 16 years in the sport of distance running has given Adam exposure to the power running can have over one’s life and the incredible journey it can take an individual on. For our athletes, the primary outcomes of training with are that you will be challenged, you will be inspired and you will likely inspire others around you as you forge new relationships with the team. Ultimately, if you work hard and follow our program, you will succeed in achieving your goals!

Coach Derek Nakluski

DEREK PICDerek started running in high school which seems ages ago, but I really enjoyed competing and just being on the trails and roads. I ran well enough in high school to get a Scholarship at High Point University. I got to experience the high level competition of the NCAA and travel to great meets. After finishing college I hit my stride and made several National teams which allowed me to compete abroad against some of the World’s best runners. I then focused my sight on the Marathon, and in prep for my first Marathon I ran the Around the Bay 30k and became the first Canadian to win in 15 years. Later that year in the spring I went on to win both my home town Marathon (Waterloo) and in the fall the Detroit Marathon. It was quite a journey and I couldn’t have done it without the great coaches and training partners I had along the way.

As a coach I enjoy using the knowledge I have gained from all my past coaches and other runners to help guide athletes towards their goals. I find a great deal of satisfaction in seeing a runner I’m working with improve with their training and racing.

  • 2011 Around the Bay 30k Champion
  • 2011 Detroit Marathon Champion
  • National Medalist 10k road championships (2), 5000m track championships
  • National Team Member
